According to Goodreads, while three-quarters of overall readers are women, 62.5% of self-help books readers are also women. The majority of self-help book authors are men and have a larger readership among women than men.

So, should you trust them? Should you read them? We can all use a little help from time to time. If you have high motivation, are resourceful, and have a positive attitude toward self-help treatment – it may be very successful for you.  Self-help books are more effective at helping us learn new life skills, like assertiveness, problem-solving, and even tidiness. That’s good news for everybody since we can all benefit from learning new skills that help us to navigate our lives.

As with everything – keep in mind, it’s a book. A resource. It will not make you rich or thin or well-adjusted overnight. Some books will not speak to you. Others may even provide false hope. However, in many you may find tools, inspiration, new ways to interpret yourself and continued positive outlooks.
